The Garden
To the rear of the pub is a large and surprisingly peaceful garden which was once nominated for the 'longest grass in a beer garden' award on the website fancyapint.com. Things have changed greatly and in Spring 2007 we completed a four month project to create the most spectacular pub garden in the area.
Here is what the designers, Stephenson O'Brien Garden Design,  have to say about their work.   "Our inspiration was a response to the Tudor nature of the pub's exterior, so we have created a contemporary take on the Tudor-style garden.  There are two distinct areas, the perimeter walk is framed with a 'falling' steel pergola emerging from a yew hedge, which finally rests in the green roof of the outbuilding.  The main body of the garden has a central circle where a water jet is flanked by four high-panel trees.  Leading from this are a series of circular parterres with oak cubes nestled amongst the box hedging. "

Lee Stephenson and John O'Brien are local garden designers based in Honor Oak.  They have devised a garden which is both beautiful and practical. A pictorial record of the garden's development can be seen in our Picture Gallery <here> which amply demonstrates the quality of their work, their skill and the enormous amount of care and attention to detail .
